A world premiere Gothic horror opera written by Katie Kring and Rob Hartmann.

“Sweet Louisa, Sweet Louisa, she knows all the secrets, but she’ll never tell.” So a young wife and mother sings about the porcelain doll called “Sweet Louisa”, who may be the key to all the mysterious events in this lyrical ghost story.

Set in a remote lighthouse on the shores of Lake Superior in the winter of 1916, Sweet Louisa spins the tale of a woman, her husband the lighthouse keeper, and their young daughter. During a powerful storm, the keeper rescues the lone survivor of a wreck. This mysterious sailor, to show his gratitude, gives the young girl a gift of a porcelain doll, “Sweet Louisa.” And everything begins to unravel…

Inspired by the lore and legends of Lake Superior’s many shipwrecks, Sweet Louisa spins a chilling, gothic tale in a soaring, melodic score.
