A 54-year-old man from Pleasant Hope died in a head-on collision about six miles north of Springfield on Saturday night, April 1.
John S. Smith was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:23 p.m. Saturday, according to an online report posted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Smith was driving a 2011 Ford Edge north on Route H (known as Glenstone Avenue in city limits) and his vehicle collided head-on with a 2006 GMC Sierra driven by Gregory A. Lenox, of Buffalo, at 10:10 p.m., according to the report.
Lenox, 51, also was taken to Mercy Hospital.
The collision happened near East Farm Road 48. The online report does not state how the collision occurred.
