On Thursday evening, the Springfield Police Department announced the death of a bicyclist who was hit by a pickup truck in October.
Donald Lawson, 53, hit Joseph Hamer, 55, with his 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 on Oct. 12 while turning southbound on Kansas Expressway from Division Street. After two days in the hospital, Hamer succumbed to his injuries.
Hamer’s family was notified upon his death, and Springfield PD found out yesterday from the Greene County Medical Examiner.
An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing, but impairment of the driver is not currently suspected as a factor in the collision.
