A Springfield woman’s dream came true when she met her idol, country music legend Dolly Parton.
Jackie Carroll, who is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, is a CoxHealth at Home hospice patient. CoxHealth shared photos of the encounter in a Facebook post Thursday.
According to that post, Carroll’s “world revolves around Dolly Parton” and she can sing every word to “9 to 5” and “Coat of Many Colors.”
“Dolly’s music brings her joy and comfort every day,” the post reads. “Recently CoxHeath at Home posted on their Facebook about Jackie’s love for Dolly, and word spread quickly and reached the queen of country music herself.”
Parton and her team invited Carroll and some of her caregivers to Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, the post recounted. Carroll got to meet and talk to Parton.

Carroll’s family said this in the post: “Jackie has loved Dolly since she was a little girl. Her bedroom is Dolly themed, she has pretend phone conversations with Dolly and she proudly sings Dolly’s songs. This was an experience of a lifetime for Jackie! Thank you to all who made this possible.”
