Mercy will break ground on a new primary care clinic in southwest Springfield Tuesday.

The new Mercy Clinic Family Medicine — South Creek will be located at 1718 W. Woodland St. and will replace the old Mercy Clinic Family Medicine — South Creek.

The new clinic — a $3.2 million project — will be about 1,500 square feet bigger than the existing clinic.

To prevent the spread of viruses, the design for the new space includes exam rooms with exterior entrances and their own restrooms, a news release said.

The Springfield Business Journal reported that the new South Creek clinic is being built on vacant land at Woodland Street and Kansas Expressway, south of Sunset Street. Mercy owns the 1.5-acre site after buying it in late 2019 from Big O Investments LLC, according to Greene County assessor and recorder filings. A note amount is not listed with the warranty deed on file with the recorder’s office, the Journal reported.

The public is invited to attend the Groundbreaking and Blessing Ceremony at 1:13 p.m. Tuesday. Parking is provided by The Bank of Missouri (please avoid parking near the ATM).

The new clinic is expected to be completed in spring of 2023, the release said.
