
Jack Arthur Murphy, 92 of Nixa, passed away on August 24, 2023, in Springfield, Missouri.
Jack was drafted into the Army serving in Korea. Jack served in the Combat Engineers for 13 months, making the rank of Staff Sergeant where he earned three bronze stars. After arriving back in the states, he married Darlene Jarrett. To this union six children were born: Rick, Ralph, Rod, Ronda and two twin girls who died at birth named Ranae & Rochelle. Jack worked in the oil field as a driller, derrick man and safety engineer. Later he worked for 10 years for Great Western Sugar Company in Ovid, Colorado. He then owned a ranch southeast of Holyoke, Colorado, where he won numerous awards for being the top corn producer in Colorado and being ranked nationally.
Jack was divorced and remarried to the love of his life, Yolanda Medrano, on August 26, 1991. They had a motel in Loveland, Colorado and a travel agency in which they set up tours by bus to the mountains of Colorado and to Branson, Missouri.
Jack is survived by his sister, Wynona Murphy, his wife, Yolanda of the home; son Rick(Terri) Murphy; son Ralph (Shelley) Murphy; son Rod (Shanna Worm) Murphy; daughter, Ronda (James Corcilius) Murphy; daughter Michelle (Josh Gilbert) Murphy; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews that he adored.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 31st from 10-11:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church in Springfield, Missouri, with services to follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery, in Springfield, Missouri at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
