Jeanne Nesbitt Toombs, 95 of Springfield, passed away Monday, December 26, 2022, peacefully at home.
While attending Mizzou Jeanne met the love of her life, David Robert Toombs. Into their union, two children were born, Robert N. Toombs and Sara Toombs Krutsinger. Jeanne was a homemaker and devoted mother and wife to her family.
She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church; in her younger years she taught Sunday School, was a member of St. Mary’s Guild, and a longtime volunteer at the Next-to-New Shop. She was a charter member of the Junior League of Springfield, and a member of JL chapter of P.E.O.
She is survived by her daughter, Sara Jane Krutsinger, step-grandson Brad Krutsinger, nieces Jenny Baldwin, Susie Salsitz and her husband Bobby, and extended families. A very special thank you to the loving caregivers that assisted Jeanne (Mom) as her eyesight and health lessened; Aaron, Elva, Judy, Katy, Pat.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Episcopal Church Foundation, 601 E. Walnut, Springfield MO 65806 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held on Friday, December 30th at 1:00 pm at Maple Park Cemetery, 300 W. Grand in Springfield, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
No formal visitation is planned.
