Virginia E. (Louzader) Salvog, 101 of Springfield, went to her heavenly home on March 25, 2023.

She worked at Fort Leonard Wood as secretary to the American Red Cross for four years. That is where she met her future husband, Sherman Salvog. Virginia was a longtime member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Springfield, chancel choir, and United Methodist Women. One of her greatest joys was being part of the choir for 50 years. Virginia was employed as a secretary in the Springfield area, and at the time of her retirement in 1984, she was employed by the Springfield R-12 School District as Secretary to the School Board and also Secretary to the Director of Business Services.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Salvog of Sydney, Australia, a brother, Donald E. Louzader of Springfield, Missouri, and several nieces and nephews, including one special nephew, Don M. Louzader, who guided her through health emergencies while her daughter taught school overseas. She is also survived by a dear friend, Sandy Cullers, who took her shopping and to doctors’ appointments and was a vital part of her care later in life.

Visitation for Virginia Salvog will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church in Springfield on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., with a memorial service to follow at 11:00, with Pastor Tom Vansant officiating.

The burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Springfield.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Asbury United Methodist Church’s music program in Virginia’s name.

Services are being coordinated by Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
