James Paul Andrews Jr., 97 of Springfield, was called to be with his Lord and Savior on June 28, 2022.

After attending Drury College for a short time he decided to join the Navy. He was stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii for approximately two years as a Pharmacist’s Mate 2nd Class and was honorably discharged on 2/25/1946. After returning home and struggling to make a living on the small family farm, Jim decided to continue his education at Southwest Missouri State College and was able to obtain a degree in 1953. He was hired by the United States Department of Agriculture, Division of Soil Conservation Service, where he spent his career. During his tenure, he was able to obtain a G-12 raking and retired in 1985 after thirty years of service. Jim loved the outdoors especially fishing, golfing, and spending time in his garden.

He is survived by his sister Nancy Sue Nichols, brother-in-law Paul Wesley Nichols, sons, David Paul Andrews and William Charles Andrews, daughter, Cathie Lynn Andrews, grandson, Eric Brent Andrews, daughter-in-law, Brooke Andrews, grandson Colby William Andrews, daughter-in-law, Heather Andrews, great granddaughter’s, Lindsey Kay Argo and Madison Renee Andrews, great grandsons Cooper Reece Andrews and Gavin Breck Andrews.

Jim’s life will be honored at a graveside service held in Springfield National Cemetery, 1702 E. Seminole, Springfield, MO on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at 11:00 am under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
