
Larry Carter, 79 of Springfield, passed away at his home on January 28, 2023 following a long illness.
Larry was united in marriage to Linda Roller Oldham on June 20, 1981.
Larry started his career as an educator at Republic High School as a coach and teacher. Later he was promoted to principal at Republic Middle School. He felt fortunate to have spent his entire professional career in the Republic School System where he touched many lives and made many lifelong friends. After his retirement from the Republic School District he worked for several years with his own brush hog business.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; sons, David (Andrea), Doug (Cindi), and Darin (Michelle); daughter, Sarah Woolery (Jason); grandchildren, Alivia Sutton (Brinnan), and Hunter Carter (Tara), Caitlin and Campbell Carter, Callie and Jesse Carter, Lydia and Luke Nevels, Vadim and Levi Woolery, Brady (Latisha) Reynolds; and great-granddaughter, Brynlee Reynolds. He is also survived by his sister and best friend, Karolen Bischoff plus an extended family of nieces and greatnephews.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 922 West Republic Road, in Springfield MO.
In honor of Larry, coffee, juice, and donuts will be served.
A memorial service and celebration of Larry’s life will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the church.
Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Monett, Missouri under the care of Lohmeyer Funeral Home, Springfield.
