Mary Evelyn Fenley, 92 of Springfield, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 6th, 2022.

Mary married her soulmate, Hugh Fenley on June 4th, 1950 and had recently celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary. She was a dedicated military wife and spent the early years of their marriage traveling alongside Hugh for military assignments as they started their family. Mary was an active participant in her local church and was a long-time member of Seminole Baptist Church. After befriending a blind neighbor, Mary began volunteering at the Springfield Association for the Blind. She found a passion in working with the blind and was eventually offered a permanent position as the Executive Director working at the association. Mary spent the next 22 years serving the Springfield community at the Association for the Blind.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Hugh Fenley, her 3 sons, Rick Fenley, Edward Fenley, and Mike Fenley, her 4 grandchildren, Erica (Fenley) Mariage, Ryan Fenley, Ethan Fenley, and Brooke (Fenley) Schroeder as well as her 7 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home South on Tuesday 7/12 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

Mary’s service will also be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home South on Thursday 7/14 at 11:30 am with a burial to follow.
