Ruby Cain (Wyrick), 92 of Springfield, died on July 19, 2022.
Growing up on a farm during the Great Depression and World War 2, she graduated from Augusta High School in 1947 and soon after moved to Saint Joseph, found work and a few months later met Loyd Wyrick, the man she would eventually marry in 1949. Loyd worked for AT&T, so after marriage the two traveled for several years according to the demands of Loyd’s career.
Of the many friends Ruby and Loyd made in Springfield over the succeeding 42 years, their most active friendships were with members of the local Telephone Pioneers social club, comprised of retired Bell Telephone employees and their spouses. Ruby was a long-time member of the Christian Church.
Ruby is survived by Tom Wyrick (son) of Playa del Carmen, MX, Jim Wyrick (son) and his wife Elizabeth of Parkville, MO, Sara Wyrick (granddaughter) and her son Hayden (great-grandson) of Fort Worth, TX, and Matthew Wyrick (grandson) and his wife Jamie of Houston, TX.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at 1PM at Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home with a visitation at 12 PM until service time.
Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery, ¼ mile west of the funeral home.
