

Larry Wayne Moore, 82 of Springfield, passed away November 12, 2023, in Springfield.
He attended Pattonville High School but left early to enlist in the Navy. He then married Velda Jewel (Robison) in 1963. To this union were born three children: Steve, Cindy, and David.
Larry had a distinguished career in law enforcement beginning as a Ferguson Police Officer. He then joined the US Sky Marshals at the height of airplane hijackings. He then went on to become a US Customs agent and was responsible for opening and operating the very first Port of Entry in Springfield, Missouri. He retired after 33 years with a civilian rank of Colonel. After he retired, he also served as a civilian contractor in Europe during the fall of the USSR.
Larry is survived by his wife Velda; brother Ron; sister Sue; sister-in-law’s Cindy, Mary, and Kathy; three children Steve (wife Angie), Cindy, and David; six grandchildren Wade, Cortney, Breanna, Brittney, Baylee, and Rose; eight great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 19th, 2023, from 2pm to 4pm at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Springfield, Missouri.
Services will be held Monday, November 20th, 2023, at 11am at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Springfield, Missouri.
Burial will be held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S Southwood Rd, Springfield, Missouri, immediately following the services.
A gathering for family and friends will be held immediately following the burial at the American Legion Post 676, 2350 N Clifton Ave, Springfield, Missouri. Please feel free to bring a side dish or dessert.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Post 676, 2350 N Clifton Ave, Springfield, Missouri.
