Film lovers will have three chances to catch movies outdoors this weekend, and they’re all free.

Head downtown for the Springfield-Greene County Parks Department’s Movies at Founders Park on both Friday and Saturday. The films start at dusk. Friday’s featured film is “The Mitchells vs. The Machines,” rated PG, while Saturday’s feature is “Cruella,” rated PG-13. Both nights are family-friendly.

“We have mixed crowds at both nights, and we’re never going to go above a PG-13 movie,” said Jenny Fillmer Edwards, public information administrator for the Springfield-Greene County Park Board. “We get a lot of questions about when the movies start. They start when it’s dark, and that’s a sliding schedule. Check what time sunset is, and it’s usually about 10-15 minutes after that when we get started.”

Moviegoers are asked to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets for the show. Concessions will be available for purchase at Founders Park (330 East Water St.), or guests can bring their own snacks. Alcohol and tobacco are prohibited, however, and the Park Department asks that all pets be left at home.

“Definitely bring your own lawn chair or blanket,” Edwards said. “The park is shaped like an amphitheater and you can use it like an amphitheater, but you’re going to be more comfortable if you’re not sitting on concrete. It’s free, no tickets required. Just show up and bring your chair or blanket.”

Can’t make it this weekend? You’ve still got four more chances to check out Movies at Founders Park:

  • July 15: “The Addams Family 2” (PG)
  • July 16: “Crazy Rich Asians” (PG-13)
  • July 22: “Soul” (PG)
  • July 23: “Dirty Dancing” (PG-13)
