Here are my top picks for things to do this weekend. Not into these events? A longer list of things to do is available on the Daily Citizen’s Event Calendar.
Saturday, April 9
Puzzlers: Come one, come all
Puzzlers, pop your knuckles. It is time for the ultimate jigsaw puzzle competition.
Teams of up to four people will race to be the first to finish a 500-piece jigsaw puzzle at the library. Gather friends, family and neighbors for a fun, fierce and free tabletop sport! Space is limited so be sure to call 417-883-1974 before you go.
This epic contest will be held at the Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library starting at 2:00 p.m. this Saturday. Directions to the library.
Seafood Smorgasbord
If your belly is throwing red flags for hunger, you will want to attend this event.
According to organizers, the first annual Red Flags and Gut Feelings Seafood Jammer will be held rain or shine this weekend, featuring some of the best seafood the oceans produce. They say this event is essentially a seafood carnival complete with beer, eating contests, and various kinds of seafood.
Tickets start at $65 for adults and $35 for kids 10 and under. This event is held Saturday at Mothers Brewing Company from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Directions to Mothers.
Sunday, April 10
Roller Disco Drag Brunch
Follow the call of the Disco ball — Drag Brunch is back at The Cellar.
The roller disco theme of this week’s drag event is almost as fabulous as the Queens who are headlining it. There will be performances by Ether, Khadijah, Cyprus Stone, Roxanne Rouge, and my favorite, Queen Lasagna. YUM. This event is $30 per ticket. Brunch drinks, cocktails and beer are available per purchase.
Roller Disco Drag Brunch is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Sunday. Directions to The Cellar.
