Springfield Business Development Corporation (SBDC) and the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce were recently awarded a grant from the Missouri Technology Corporation aimed to spark innovation and entrepreneurship, according to a press release from the chamber.

The grant will be used to develop regional “nodes” throughout southwest Missouri, according to the press release. These nodes are intended to support innovation and entrepreneurship between organizations.

The grant will allow SBDC to build on the regional collaboration of Southern Missouri Innovation Network (innovate SOMO), which serves 47 counties in Missouri, according to the release.

“We are excited to collaborate with the teams at Innovate SOMO, along with other stakeholders across the region to increase capacity and continue growth within the entrepreneurial ecosystem in southwest Missouri,” said Dean Thompson, executive director of regionalism & economic development for the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce.
