CoxHealth will implement Epic for its Electronic Health Record (EHR) system to improve the way the hospital provides care and communicates with patients, according to a Dec. 19 company press release.

Epic will allow the hospital system to unify workflows, provide integration for patient care and strengthen the exchange of information across the health system, according to the release. Epic also will allow the hospital to improve the patient experience through its patient portal.

Amanda Hedgpeth, chief operating officer of CoxHealth, said the Epic implementation will improve the patient experience.

“Patients are at the center of our health care model, and Epic EHR empowers them with increased access to their health information,” Hedgepeth said in the release.

The transition to Epic will streamline patient scheduling through a program called MyChart, according to the release. MyChart will integrate patient records across health care organizations regionally and across the country, allowing patients to access all their health data and records.

“These projects are among CoxHealth’s biggest investments in technology, and they aim to provide our teams with best-practice tools,” said President Max Buetow.

The Epic EHR implementation will be completed in early 2026, according to the release. CoxHealth made the decision to implement Epic after input from “hundreds of providers” and staff members across the organization, according to the release.
